Target size tries palettes from 256 down to 8 colors. Its minimum effective target is 1 KB. If it cannot be reached, the smallest result is returned. If compression does not make a file smaller, the original is kept. Results stay in PNG format, preserve transparency, and keep their dimensions.
Files are processed in your browser, not uploaded, and no registration is needed. Animated PNG input keeps only the first frame. The browser canvas limit is about 150 megapixels, or about 16.7 megapixels on iPhone and iPad. If a new result is made, it keeps the source color profile and drops other metadata. If the original is kept unchanged, its metadata remains.

What compression options can I choose from?

What happens if the target size cannot be reached?
The tool tries progressively smaller palettes, from 256 colors down to 8. If the target still cannot be reached, it returns the smallest result it could make. The minimum effective target is 1 KB.
Will compression preserve transparency and image dimensions?
Transparency, including semi-transparent pixels, is preserved, and dimensions do not change. The result stays in PNG format. Lossless does not reduce colors, but it may change color values beneath fully transparent pixels.
Are my PNG files uploaded, and how is metadata handled?
Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded, and no registration is needed. A newly made result carries over the color profile but drops other metadata. If the original is kept unchanged because the result is not smaller, its metadata remains.
