Compare Images

Select or drop exactly two images in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, or BMP. Animated GIF and WebP use only the first frame.

Choose Slider, Side by side, Overlay, or Difference. In Slider, drag the divider or use arrow keys, Shift moves it in 10% steps. Choose left/right or top/bottom. Side by side can be next to each other or stacked. Overlay blends the top image over the other at 0%–100% opacity. Toolbar controls include shared zoom up to 800%, Fit, 100%, Swap, and full screen.

In Difference, set a 0–100 threshold. Higher thresholds hide small differences such as JPEG noise. Choose a highlight color. Changed pixels is the share of pixels above the threshold, and Similarity is 100 minus the average largest channel difference. Unchanged areas appear dim grey.

If dimensions differ, choose Fit, Fill, or Stretch to adjust the second image to the first. Toggle labels in supported views, downloads omit labels.

Before comparing, check the table of both images’ names, formats, dimensions, and file sizes. Use the visual views to review changes, but not as a substitute for scientific metrics such as SSIM or PSNR. The tool does not create a comparison report or compare more than two images.

The canvas rejects images above 150 megapixels, with a limit of about 16.7 megapixels on iPhone and iPad. A side-by-side download doubles the width or height, so keep that in mind when choosing a layout for a large image pair.

Downloaded views are re-encoded without EXIF or GPS metadata, and phone photo orientation is applied to the pixels. No watermark is added. Transparent areas stay transparent in Slider, Side by side, and Overlay views, and in PNG or WebP downloads. Difference also compares the alpha channel.
